TREATING BOILS

Boils are common skin infections that may start as a small pimple and can grow. They can be very uncomfortable and may cause scarring. They are infections of the bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), a bacteria commonly found in the nose, anus, and on the skin. The appearance is characterized by a red lump on the skin, full of puss with bacteria. Boils can be easily recognized with its eye surrounded by red inflamed skin. Small boils can be treated at home. Treatment usually consists of applying hot compresses and an antibiotic ointment to the affected area. Over the counter pain relievers can also help relieve the pain and inflammation. But for a very large boil, you should see a doctor. It may require a minor surgery where incision of the skin and draining of the puss will be carried out. The removal of the puss is quite painful, but this will heal the boil quickly with antibiotics.
